Five companies of Central security forces will be assisting state armed and unarmed security forces in the by-poll election to be held in Konthoujam Assembly Constituency on Monday.
Out of 28 polling stations, 11 have been declared hypersensitive and the rest (17) as sensitive.
A platoon of armed security personnel will be detailed along with five unarmed personnel from state home guard and VDF, officials of the state election commission said.
Three candidates, Dr. S Ranjan of Congress, K. Sarat of Trinamool Congress and independent candidate, Kh Ranjit are in the fray.
It may be recalled by-election in the constituency was necessitated after the sitting MLA of the constituency and Speaker of the Manipur Assembly Dr. S Budhichandra expired in September last year.
A total of 24,601 electors would be exercising their franchise in the by-election to be held in 28 polling stations across the constituency.
Out of the total electors, 12,125 are males while 12,476 are females.
