Siblings arrested for kidnapping

A team of Manipur police commandos arrested two siblings involved in the kidnapping of a non-Manipuri for ransom. One 9 mm pistol loaded with three live rounds was recovered from them, a police source said Sunday.
Ngasekpam Naocha Singh (28) and Ngasekpam Ibomcha Singh (29), both sons of N Bir Singh were nabbed Saturday. Police alleged that they were activists of KCP(MC) and behind the kidnapping of Jagjit Singh Manchandra (23) son of Ranjit Singh Manchanddra of Thangal Bazar, Imphal.
Jagijt was kidnapped on January 29 last near North AOC, Imphal under City Police Station of Imphal, and a ransom of `1 crore was demanded for his safe release.
Ever since the family lodged a missing report on February 4 last, police had been on alert in an effort to locate him.
A team of Imphal West Police Commandos rescued Jagjit from Chingkhu Mamang Leikai in Imphal east on February 8 last when they launched an operation based on specific information. No arrest was made when police rescued Jagjit on February 8. However, police managed to arrest the two siblings Saturday evening, the officer said.
On further interrogation, it was revealed that they are activists of KCP (MC) and admitted they kidnapped Jagjit for not meeting the demand served by the group to his father recently, the officer added.
