Youth assaulted

Two brothers, one a BA student and an AR jawan were reportedly assaulted by four persons on Saturday afternoon near Ao Baptist Church, Para Medica colony Kohima.
The victims identified as Sukhato Wotsa, a BA student of Kohima College, Kohima and his brother Pikuto Wotsa, serving in the Assam Rifles were reportedly on their way to collect medical report when the four accosted them on the way.
The accused identified as Sedevilie and Zaselhouvi both hailing from Mezoma village, Neiphrezo of Chiechama village, and Seyietuo of T-Khel, Kohima village were all college going students of different institutions and were alleged to be under the influence of alcohol.
The accused allegedly used stone and hit the victim Sukhato who went unconscious. When his brother tried to intervened, he was also assaulted similarly.
Revealing the incident in a press release, Kohima Sumi Students’ Union stated that the two youth were assaulted without any reason.
The union also alleged that police officers on QRT duty were present on the spot at the time of the incident but instead of nabbing the culprits, they were allowed to flee.
The union while condemning the incident and the responsible police for neglecting his duty appealed to the higher authority to identify the officer on duty.
Meanwhile, South police station when contacted said that on receiving information about the incident, its personnel were rushed to the spot and the victim was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
However, police said it has not received any official complaint.
