Hunting, burning of jungles banned

As per the directive of ministry of Kilo-Affairs, NSCN-IM Chakhesang region central administrative officer has informed that burning of jungles and use of chemicals (organic/processed) in rivers/streams would be strictly banned throughout Chakhesang soil.
In a press release, CAO Vepupe Duolo stated that ban on burning of jungles and using chemicals has been put into force to preserve the flora, fauna and aquatic biodiversity and further warned violators would be sternly dealt with befitting punishment.
The statement also cautioning movement of any individual, group or society with hunting materials of any kind, stated it would be taken against defaulters and materials seized.
In this regard, CAO Chakhesang region sought the cooperation of all VCCs and units to keep close vigil and requested them to contact the concerned authority to exercise the ban more effectively.
Meanwhile, Dihoma Village Youth and Sports Organization (DVY&SO) also resolved to ban hunting, forest fire, collection of firewood and vegetation within its jurisdiction. A release by organization cautioned that violators would be penalized according to its resolutions.
Meluri cultural day

DIMAPUR: The 33rd cultural day of Meluri would be held on February 18 and 19 at Local Ground, Meluri.
The first day of the cultural event would be graced by Yitachu, parliamentary secretary, tourism, law and justice as chief guest while Deo Nukhu, advisor, science and technology, NRE and arts and culture will be the chief guest on February 19. Five groups/khels within Meluri range including Khumaisü, Riehuope, Müluoho, Jisuo and Müluosuo would participate in various cultural activities and traditional show during the two-day event. All citizens of Meluri and well wishers have been invited to be part of the cultural day.
