Census awareness at Mon, Longleng

: One day awareness program for village councils, GBs, DBs and NGOs on Census 2011 was held on February 14 at Council hall Mon.
In his key note address, deputy commissioner, Mon Dinesh Kumar, lauded the village councils, DBs and GBs, community monitors and NGOs of the district for extending cooperation and support to census officials in successfully conducting the 1st phase census.
While appealing the village council chairmen, DBs, GBs and NGOs to extend their fullest cooperation and support census officials, DC appealed the gathering to allow enumerators and supervisors to visit their homes to collect accurate information.
He also urged village functionaries not to pressurize the enumerators and supervisors to add additional household/person or to left out any person/household.
DC Mon also clarified that census was a different exercise from electoral rolls of the Election Department or other VDB household census of the RD department and added that reporting accurate census will not affect the electoral rolls or minimize the VDB fund allotted household wise, but rather help the planning for social economic development of the village.
Regarding complains and misinformation reported earlier, DC asked the gathering to inform the matter to the district administration before March 28 for necessary action.
Community monitors, P. Heno and Mosa Konyak, vice president, Konyak Union, president Konyak Students union; general secretary GB’s association and representative from Konyak Baptist Church (KBBB) also exhorted the gathering.
Later, the village council chairmen, DBs, GBs and NGOs interacted with nodal officers, N.K Roy Chowdhury and Visakono.
The programme was chaired by SDO (civil), Mon, Mono Khiam and attended by administrative officers, NGOs, village councils, DBs and GBs, and community monitors of the district.
Longleng: Census community monitors held a meeting on February 10 at PPC Hall Longleng headquarter for phase II census.
The meeting was attended by VCCs and head GBs under Longleng district, members from Phom Peoples’ Council, Phomla Hoichem, Phom Students’ Conference, and advisory members of Longleng Town Council.
The meeting was addressed by deputy commissioner Longleng, wherein he called on the village authorities and other NGOs and leaders of the district to extend full co operation and help the visiting census functionaries in their respective villages/wards in collecting accurate information.
The meeting was also addressed by two community monitors for Longleng district, Chingan Phom and Likhase Sangtam.
The community monitors shared on the necessity and advantages of giving the right and accurate Census data and called on the village leaders and the other NGOs present, to extend fullest cooperation and give the correct data.
