Assam Rifles High School, Medziphema carried forward its vision of “Developing all faculties of students for making them honest, committed and dynamic citizens of the country” by celebrating its annual day “Harmony” on February 15 at Triveni Hall, 20 Assam Rifles.
State governor Nikhil Kumar graced the occasion as chief guest and Maj Gen Sandeep Singh, IGAR (N), Yashmi Singh, President ARWWA, IGAR (N) were the guest of honour while Brig Ved Prakash, patron of the school was the chief host.
Nikhil Kumar in his address appreciated the efforts of students and teachers and acknowledged the contribution of the school in imparting high quality education to students and thus shaping up the future of the next generation.
He also exhorted the parents to continuously provide their children with opportunities of growth so they could be groomed into a great personality and conscientious citizens of the country.
He said “We as a nation not only need bright students but we need sensitive and caring students who value each and every resource that is available with them and contribute in conserving and recreating them for the future generations”.
The programme started with lighting of the inaugural lamp by the governor followed by a traditional welcome song by the students.
According to a defence release, the school annual report presented by principal not only highlighted the achievements of the school in academics and extra co-curricular activities but also assured the environment of continuous hard work, perseverance and dedication of his team of teachers and students with an endeavour to take the institution to a higher pedestal and achieve excellence in all spheres.
The cultural fiesta started with a dance on the national song Vande Matram, followed by performance of tiny tots who gave a strong message on importance of tree plantation. Students of junior and senior groups gave a riveting performance in modern dance.
The event concluded with prize distribution ceremony.
