All Nagaland Small Tea Growers’ Association (ANSTGA) has threatened to go on hunger strike if the Tea Board of India (TBI) failed to release the back log subsidies of ninth and tenth five year plan by March 15. ANSTGA general secretary I. Imli Yaden said its officer bearers met at its head office Dimapur on Wednesday and deliberated on matter and resolved to go on hunger strike if the back log was not released. ANSTGA recalled that governor, Nikhil Kumar had acted on its representation submitted in May 2010 and telephonically enquired the executive director Tea Board Guwahati Rakesh Saini about the issue and also forwarded a letter to the then TBI chairman Basudeb Banerjee for early release of the back-log. ANSTGA rued that there has been no positive response from the Tea Board despite such initiatives made by Nagaland governor.
