The “NSCN (U)” cadre, accused by MLA Kheto of allegedly making an attempt on his son’s life on February 14, has on Wednesday clarified that he only fired two “blank shots” as he sensed “danger and threat” on his life.
MLA Kheto on February 15 accused “NSCN (U)” member, “leacy” Khekato, of attempting to kill his son on February 14, between Lumami and Zaphumi village, by firing two shots into the Maruti car, driven by his son.
According to I.Khekato Kinny, on February 14 at around 11:45 p.m. he along with three others were returning from Asukhuto towards Zhaphumi village, when the occupants of a Maruti car, coming from opposite direction, yelled and shouted at them but they did not pay heed to their shouting.
He said the occupants of the Maruti car then turned the car then started chasing their vehicle “for about 2 km at full speed”. He said the Maruti car overtook them near Nagaland University campus and swerved in front and blocked their path. Khekato claimed the occupants then started shouting at them after which two blank shots were fired as his groups senses danger and threat. Khekato said at that point, the identify of the occupants were not known but later discovered one was the son of Kheto MLA. Thereupon the matter was resolved and both parties headed for their respective destinations, he said.
Meanwhile, Khekato said that to his “utter surprise”, while he was away, Kheto, his brothers and his official bodyguards, all armed with fire arms raided his father’s house the following morning at around 10:30 a.m. searching for him “with ulterior motive.”
Khekato said it was fortunate he was out on some business matter or otherwise “I do not know what they would have done to me if I happened to be there,” . On learning his absence, Khekato said they left his father’s fathers house and lodged F.I.R. with Akuluto police station and published the same in the local dailies.
“This being the facts and circumstances of the incidents I am compelled to clarify the same,” he added.
LKD condemns: Lumami Kuposhukulu Dimapur (LKD) has “vehemently” condemned the attempt on life of MLA Kheto’s son by “leacy of NSCN (U)” Khekato.
In a press release, the LKD has appealed all right thinking citizens to condemn such act of “goon and cowardice”. It further urged “NSCN (U)” authority to take appropriate action against the “erring offender.”
