24-hr hill districts bandh by ATSUM

All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) has called for a 24-hour ‘total bandh’ in all five hill districts from midnight of February 17 to next day midnight.
ATSUM announced the bandh demanding review of the state government decision of posting of senior MCS officers as executive director, DRDA against Central government’s guidelines, framing of reservation rules and other demands. The union with the support of its constituent units as, Churachandpur District Students’ Union (CDSU), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Naga Students’ Union, Chandel (NSUC), Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) and Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Manipur (ZSUM) has called for the bandh.
Meanwhile, all the police stations and security posts across the five hill districts have been alerted ahead of the bandh to avoid any untoward incident.
Intensify patrolling and vigilance to the movement of members and volunteers of the bandh calling bodies would be carried, an official source said.
In another unrelated incident, Imphal police arrested a youth on late Tuesday for possessing and commercially transmitting clips of his girlfriend.
Jonny Choudury (30) of Babupara, Imphal was charged of selling the obscene video clipping of his 19-year girlfriend which he had recorded in a hotel at North AOC, Imphal.
