Gearing up to respond to challenges of climate change, the government of Nagaland through its steering committee on climate change would be setting up State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC) February 18 at Imagine Nagaland hall, Administrative Training Institute Kohima.
According to chief conservator of forests and SAPCC drafting taskforce member Albert Solo, the state government has taken responsive initiatives for climate change challenges by developing adaptation and mitigation strategies and action through the process of preparing State Action Plan on Climate Change Nagaland, in line with the requirements of National Action Plan on Climate Change.
He stated that February 18 inception workshop was being organized by department of forest, ecology & environment in association with GIZ and IRG Systems South Asia Pvt. Ltd. New Delhi, with a view to initiate the process of developing State Action Plan on Climate Change to highlight challenges and opportunities fueled by climate change in key sectors of the state and suggest implementing appropriate measures and actions.
Participants from various state departments/agencies and experts would be reviewing climate change issues, its impact in Nagaland and northeast India and discuss adaptation and mitigation strategies and actions.
