Workshop on cyber forensic is currently underway at RIELIT, Kohima. The two day workshop which began on February 17 was inaugurated by secretary, IT and C, K.T Sukhalu IAS.The workshop is being organized by the department of IT and C in association with Regional Institute of e-Learning and Information Technology (RIELIT), Kohima, stated an official bulletin.
Speaking at the occasion, Sukhalu said the awareness cum workshop would be of immense help for all the departments. While underscoring the outstanding role-played by computers and internet in disseminating information, Sukhalu however stated the rate of cyber-crimes was also rising sharply.
He called on the people to be prepared for rapid developments taking place on all fronts. The chief guest further hoped that the opening of a computer forensic laboratory in RIELIT would let awareness percolate down to all sections of the people in combating cyber security threats.
Giving a brief presentation about RIELIT, Daniel Meren, Scientist ‘C’ highlighted the achievements and activities of RIELIT. He also stressed on software development center, cyber forensic, national population register, infrastructure and facilities and future projects of RIELIT. Short speech was also delivered by director, RIELIT, Kohima, Bodhachandra Singh.
The resource persons for the seminar are Omveer Singh, Additional Director, Scientist ‘E’, CERT-In, New Delhi and S. Babu, Scientist ‘C’, CERT-In, New Delhi. The objective of the seminar is to create awareness on information security, threats and vulnerabilities, cyber crime and also facilitate participants in utilization of various tools and technologies used for protection of information, networks and system.
The seminar will also highlight cyber on forensic investigation procedure and methodology deployed to maintain the integrity of digital evidence along with demonstration.
Earlier, the chief guest, inaugurated a computer forensic laboratory at RIELIT complex.
