Parliamentary secretary for prisons, home guards, fire and emergency services W. Kithan inaugurated the newly upgraded government high school at Akuk village under Wokha district on February 17 as chief guest.
Delivering inaugural speech, the chief guest praised God for the wonderful gift to Akuk people. Citing examples of some successful persons of Akuk such as late Mhondamo Kithan, first Nagaland education minister and first Lotha graduate, late Dr. Anthony Patton, former controller of examination of NEHU and first Naga Ph.D. in Economics, Dr. Paul Kimomo Humtsoe serving as English head of department in Central Washington University (USA), Mhatung Kithan, IAS, the chief guest lauded and commended them as hardworking and disciplined persons from Akuk village.
W. Kithan encouraged people to take advantage of the newly upgraded GHS in the village by inculcating the spirit of hard work and disciplined life so that every second person may be a great man tomorrow.
K. Phesao, joint director, school education represented the department during the inaugural function of newly upgraded GHS Akuk.
Speaking on behalf of the department, he urged villagers, particularly school authorities to properly maintain the communitised responsibilities for good results of the students.
ADC Bhandari A. Robin Lotha, SDO (C) Sanis and ADC designate Orenthung Lotha both spoke on the occasion and urged villagers to take care and maintain love and sympathy with students who come to study from neighbouring villages.
DEO Wokha Nzinimo Odyuo, DIS Bhandari Marius Yanthan in their speeches said the newly upgraded high school in the village was the most deserving case in Wokha district.
Brief background of the school was highlighted by Ratsemo Patton, Rtd. assistant teacher of the school.
Newly upgraded high school Akuk village was declared open by Er W Kithan, parliamentary secretary on February 17.
Earlier, the chief guest unveiled the monolith erected for the inauguration.
Dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Longshe Lotha Pastor Akuk Baptist Church while benediction prayer was offered by Kumchio Humtsoe, catechist, Catholic Church.
