Kiyanilie inaugurates Mezo Basa

Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker, Kiyanilie Peseyie Saturday inaugurated Mezo Basa village. In his address, Kiyanilie said that Mezo Basa was the first new village established in the Western Angami region and that the people of the area should be proud of the achievement.
According to DIPR, the speaker exhorted the people of the new village on their responsibility to develop its potential and called upon them to take full advantage of the new village and contribute towards its development. He said vision of present government was to help the poor people in manifold ways. He said peace and unity was the first prerogative towards bringing development. Kiyanilie said that the government was putting efforts to bring peace to the land. He appealed to the people of Mezo Basa to work hard to transform the village as the role model in the Angami region.
Giving a brief history of Mezo Basa, chairman of the village, Rovigwelhou Chüsi said that the village was recognised by the government on May 26, 2009.
Managing Director NSCB, B.K. Thadani who also spoke on the occasion dwelt on the pivotal role which the Cooperative Bank has been playing in the social economic development of the villagers during the last 44 years of its existence. He said that the Bank has been taking all possible endeavour in creating awareness by inculcating the habit of thrifts among the rural people and extending banking facilities as well as loan assistance.
