Assistant registrar NU notify students
DIMAPUR: Assistant registrar (examinations), Nagaland University (NU), Otova Swu in a notification informed that examination programmes given on the hall ticket/admission card for BA/B.Sc/B.Com 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year under-graduate examinations 2011 should be ignored. Further in the notification, he informed students that only the official examinations programmes notified vide No. NU/Ex-15/95-117 dated 13-01-2011 may be followed.
NPCSD meeting
DIMAPUR: Meeting of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Seva Dal (NPCSD) has been convened on February 22, 11am at DCC office, Dimapur. All India Congress Seva Dal organiser in-charge Nagaland, P. Andrew Gurung would be addressing the meeting. NPCSD chief organiser had informed all districts Seva Dal chief organiser and lady organizers to attend the meeting.
NCP Zeme area meet
DIMAPUR: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) of Northern Zeme area has convened a meeting on February 23 at Hangtakreu, near Sainik School, Punglwa, at 11am. Lungsi Haikube, NCP vice president of 7 A/C Peren, informed that State NCP party president Neiba Ndang will address the meeting. All members are asked to attend the meeting.
Training on backstopping
DIMAPUR; Programme co-ordinator Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tesophenyu conducted one-day training on technology backstopping on February 17 at Ziphenyu village. The training was sponsored by Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Kohima.
Around 25 trainees representing Benzin Farmers Club, Sagozhe Farmers Club and Keso Logwa Self Help Group (SHG) participated in the programme. In the technical session, resource person, Dr. Temjennungsang, subject matter specialist, veterinary and AH spoke on backyard farming of poultry with special reference to Kuroiler.
Longmayanger, subject matter specialist, agriculture extension gave a power point presentation on agriculture scenario in Kohima district and its prospects.
The other highlight of the training included a film show on potato seed production. The programme was chaired by Imtisenla, subject matter specialist (Agronomy) and vote of thanks by Ani, chairperson, Keso Logwa SHG.
HASSU emergency meeting
DIMAPUR: Highway Area Sumi Students Union (HASSU) emergency meeting would be held on February 21, 3pm at its office at Western Sumi Hoho building Chekiye village. All executive members, advisors, former leaders have been requested to attend the meeting.
AR apprehends one UG cadre
DIMAPUR, FEB 20 (NPN):Discovering the presence of UG cadres in general area Unapal of Chandel district, troops of 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) apprehended one KYKL cadre at around 1pm on February 19. The apprehendee was identified as No.104, Second Batch, SS L/Cpl Laishram Gandhi Meitei alias Nanao, 21 years, son of late Rajen Tombi Meitei, r/o Wangn Noorathen Leikai. According to a defence release, the individual joined the outfit on Sep 2004 and was trained at Kabum, Bishanpur. One Pistol with magazine and 3 rounds of 9mm were recovered from the apprehendee who along with the recoveries was handed over to Kakching police station.
Lecture cum interactive session on ‘water’
DIMAPUR, FEB 20 (NPN): 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) organised a lecture cum interactive session at Patkai Christian Academy (PCA) on February 19 in which Cdr HQ 10 Sector, Assam Rifles educated the students of PCA on importance of water ways to preserve it and its benefit to the society at large. According to a defence release The Cdr, mesmerized the audiences and made them pensive to think about the times when there would be no water. He was quizzed by the students on various issues such as deforestation, scarcity of water in Ukhrul District, ways to preserve water, preservation of forests and increase in population leading to scarcity of natural resources. The staff and students of Patkai Christian Academy and Board Chairman Justice (Retd) W A Shishak conveyed their heartfelt thanks to the Cdr for this unprecedented act of Assam Rifles.
Water tanks, solar lights at Hiangtam Khunou
DIMAPUR, FEB 20 (NPN): 30 Assam Rifles of 27 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organised a distribution ceremony on February 20 at Hiangtam Khunou of Churachandpur district. COB Commander of Hiangtam Khunou distributed Plastic chairs and 2 Sintex water tank (1000 ltrs) each to community hall andyouth centre, 2 Solar lanterns, 2 solar street lights and sports items to Hiangtam Khunou village, stated a defence release. The village authority expressed their resolve for supporting the security forces in combating insurgency and restoring normalcy in the area.
