Block level training on agriculture and allied activities at Lakhuti village was organized by Sanis block, ATMA Wokha on February 18.
The main purpose of the training programme was to promote and highlight the advantages of scientific way of cultivation in obtaining better yield in their crop production and to equip them with technical knowledge in combating pests and diseases in their field.
The training started with introduction by chairperson, M. Ben Yanthan, SMS, Agri. department Wokha, welcome address by Mhonthung village council chairman, Lakhuti.
In the technical session, package and practices of pineapple, orange, ginger, maize and soyabean was deliberated by Megokhono Meyase SMS, KVK Wokha and Chumbeni Odyuo BTT convener, Sanis block, ATMA Wokha respectively.
Meanwhile, Liren Kikon, BTT convener, Chukidong block, ATMA Wokha imparted facts on integrated pest management of fruit and vegetable crops.
Altogether 91 farmers participated in the training programme.
Leaflets/literature on Indigenous Technical Knowledge (ITKs) compiled and published by Sanis, block ATMA were also distributed to the participants.
The Sanis block, AMTA Wokha thanked the state nodal officer and project director, ATMA, Wokha for facilitating assistance and to all participants for making the programme a success.
