The 2 round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme for 2011 in Nagaland would be held on February 27. According to department of health and family welfare, principal director, Dr. T.L Nakhro, the department is all geared up to administer polio drops to over 2.6 lakh eligible children (0-5 years) in the state. 2,604 polio booths would be manned by 10,416 vaccinators and supervisors along with vaccines and other logistics. Parents of children below 5 years have been requested to come forward and ensure that all eligible children receive the ‘two drops of life’.
Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur has informed all parents and guardians have to bring their children 0-5 years to the nearest polio booth for polio immunization from 8am to 3pm. Further, CMO stated the first round of IPPI (Polio) in Dimapur district had covered 56194 children.
