Nagaland gets best small state ‘Women Empowerment’ award

Nagaland state received the ‘Best Women Empowerment Award’ among the small states for its outstanding achievement at the third edition of IBN7 Network18, Diamond States Award held on February 23 at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. Tamil Nadu state received the award from among the big states. The award was presented in nine categories for big and small states respectively.
On behalf of Nagaland government, parliamentary secretary, social welfare, child and women development Chotisuh Sazo received the award from vice president of India, Dr. M. Hamid Ansari who was the chief guest for the third edition of IBN7 Network18, Diamond States Award.
Speaking at the function, Sazo said that Nagaland, under the dynamic and visionary leadership of chief minister, Neiphiu Rio the state has given its all support for the uplift and development of women.
He said women in the state were playing important role in decision making and doing a remarkable achievement. He highlighted some state achievements namely women department, women commission, mahila battalion, and empowerment of women for self help groups.
Meanwhile, a special award for law and order and road development was presented to Bihar. ‘IBN7 Diamond States Awards 2011’ is the only one of its kind initiative that recognizes the extraordinary efforts of the states and their contribution to the community and society at large.
The exemplary work undertaken by Nagaland in the field of ‘Women Empowerment’ was bound to receive the due recognition by ‘IBN7 Diamond States Awards’.
