ARNS celebrates annual day

Assam Rifles Nodal School (ARNS), located at ARTC & S, 3rd Mile Dimapur, on Friday celebrated its annual day programme at Gurung Hall in all its grandeur amid glittering and colourful presentations by students.
Brig. Vijay Singh, a Sena Medal recipient, who is also the chairman of ARNS, graced the occasion as chief guest.
Brig. Singh gave away prizes and trophies to students who excelled in various disciplines like essay competition, prepared speech competition, inter-house Hindi speech competition, cultural group dance competition, literary and academic activities, during the academic year 2010-11.
Describing the annual event as “very wonderful,” the school chairman, in his brief speech, congratulated and complimented the principal and teachers for their efforts in taking the school to a higher level.
The chief guest also announced that salary of teachers would be raised starting March 1.
Meanwhile, expressing concern over tobacco consumption among students, the school chairman said during the recent dental checkup in the school around ten students were diagnosed with early-stage cancer. With regard to this, he urged the parents to take measures in order to discourage such practices amongst the students.
The principal of the school, Odila Jamir, presented the annual report, highlighting the school’s history and achievements in several fields.
Earlier, the students enthralled the audience by performing group dances, songs, dramas and the like. The students also performed cultural dances on the occasion.
Currently the school has the enrollment of about 457 students - from LKG to Class-X.
The school, established in the year 1961, was affiliated with CBSE, New Delhi in the year 2007.
