Former Nagaland chief minister and MLA K.L. Chishi urged GBs of Aghunaqa area to judiciously implement funds meant for village development so that their leadership qualities would be reflected through their respective villages.
Chishi was addressing the 35th session of Aghunaqa Area GBs Association (AAGBA) held February 23 at Pihekhu village as guest speaker.
Underscoring the powers and functions of GBs, the former chief minister asserted they played a vital role in the development of villages and the society.
He also called upon GBs to be sincere in executing their duties and not to fall prey to self-vested interests. MLA Y. Hewoto Awomi who graced the occasion as guest of honour exhorted the gathering on the role of GBs’ association.
Expressing concern that development activities were often neglected in Aghunaqa area in the name of Disturbed Area Belt (DAB) tag, Awomi urged upon all GBs to work together while undertaking development activities of the area without any “isms” like party affiliation, favoritism, nepotism etc.Others who spoke at the session included WSKH president Apeto, WSH president L.K. Achumi and KAK union president Shiwoto. 99 GBs out of 103 under Aghunaqa area attended the annual session and adopted several resolutions.
