Baba Ramdev Maharaj who has been promoting Yoga and simultaneously advocating his political ideology to make India an economic superpower on Saturday confirmed that he would be launching his own political party but did not divulge the time frame.
Speaking to media persons soon after conducting Yoga class for thousands of people at the Assam Rifles ground Kohima, he also slammed the Congress-led UPA government over corruption charges.
Taking volley of queries from media persons on his open campaign against corruption over what he termed as black money and the UPA countering charges against him, Ramdev said the Congress has no right to check others to hide its own sin.
Asked about his reactions on the Congress leaders’ demand to probe into his assets, Ramdev said the government was free to do so any time anywhere. He, however, claimed that Rs 400 lakh crore have been spirited away to foreign banks by “corrupt and the dishonest.” Congress, instead, is the one answerable to the people on the misuse of Rs. 400 lakh crore which were stashed in various banks as black money in different countries, he said.
“If this money is brought back to our country, India will be ten times richer than the United States of America,” he said. “Each village in the country will get about Rs 100 crore each for development if we distribute this money spirited away in foreign banks,” Ramdev added. Swamiji claimed that the trust he ran was totally transparent and the fund properly audited.
Ramdev, who launched his “Bharat Swabhiman Yatra (The Journey of India’s Pride)” from Dwaraka, Gujarat in mid 2010, disclosed that it would focus its fight mainly on the points: to eradicate corruption, black money and corrupt practices; to bring back the huge looted money of about Rs 400 lakh crore hidden in foreign countries; to end conspiracy of foreign governments and their companies to loot the country; and to build the character of the country’s citizens.
He allayed the misconception of relating Yoga to religion and said that India was a democratic country where there was full freedom for any citizen to choose his or her own religion or food habit.
Ramdev who was on his maiden visit to the state asserted that opening thousands of schools would not help change the country and emphasized on the need for an overhaul of the education system.
“There need a total change in the educational system in the country,” the Swamiji said. The Yoga guru who was presented with Angami traditional dress before the commencement of the class was full of praise for the Naga people and the scenic beauty of the state.
He also lauded the Nagas for their immense contribution and sacrifices made for the country including fighting the British colonial rule and also the heroic deed displayed by Naga soldiers during the Kargil war.
Though, the Swamiji has left after conducting the first Yoga class organized by Pratajali Yog Samiti, the yoga classes would continue daily till March from 5 am at the same venue.
The Yoga class was followed by a medical camp monitored by Ayurvedic doctors and Ayurvedic medicines were made available on the spot on mobile pharmacies. (with NEPS inputs)
