For the first time in Phek district, a meeting of all dobashis was conducted on February 25, at DPDB conference hall, Phek.
The meeting was convened under the guidance and initiatives of deputy commissioner Phek, Mikha Lomi.
Deputy commissioner called upon dobashis to share their experiences and also to encourage one another to enhance brotherhood among the sub-divisions in the district.
The program was attended by all the dobashis and retired PA’s to DC’s making the meeting a success, stated an official bulletin.
He also appreciated the innovative suggestions made by his junior colleagues in the meeting.
Stressing on the important role of the dobashis, he said they have to adapt to the present changes and also be active in discharging their duties.
He added that dobashis should not demand respect but should first earn it by learning to respect others. “They should not indulge in practices such as gambling or drinking but they should strive to uplift the name of their association wherever they might be”, he said.
He particularly called on the young dobashis to consult village leaders and elders and to note down the traditional and customary practices as well as other local conventions so they may be able to solve any kind of problem whenever the situation arises.
Stating dobashis were known as eyes and ears of the administration, Mikha Lomi called upon them to extend co-operation to the administration and asked them to give their best services.
The DC cautioned the dobashis not to misuse their uniforms and to avoid any untoward behaviors while on duty or else they would be punished.
The deputy commissioner also gave a reply on the memorandum submitted to him by the association by saying that he would pursue some of the matters with the higher authorities. It was agreed in principle to organize the program bi-annually.
