Banned, expired goods destroyed

Jail Colony youth in the presence of colony Panchayat leaders today destroyed of banned items and expired goods which were seized from various shops in the locality.
Youth volunteers from Jail colony, Kohima carried out surprise checking in shops and business establishment in the colony jurisdiction Saturday and seized banned items like Gutkha (Tez), Burmese sweets, pornographic CDs, expired goods including chips and soft drink. The seized items were destroyed in the presence of Panchayat Chairman Vikhozo Vitru and elders from the colony at a dustbin located near Hotel Fira Sunday afternoon.
Colony youth president Neiba Zumvü when contacted said the colony had a standing order stating those found selling banned items and expired goods would be imposed a fine of `10,000 and also face expulsion from the colony. However, this time he said the colony youth decided not to impose fine or expel any defaulter but warned them that the colony standing order would be imposed in future.
