Security force in Manipur on Thursday busted a militant hideout in Senapati district of Manipur and killed a militant suspected to be the commander-in-chief of the KCP (MC)- Lamyanba group.
Three AK series rifles, one LMG and an M-16 rifle with several rounds of ammunition were seized by a combined team of Imphal West Police Commandos and troops of 43 Assam Rifles, a police source said.
Meanwhile, Imphal West Police Commandos arrested a PULP militant in another counter insurgency operation at Mayang Imphal Bengoon under Mayang Imphal Police Station today.
From the militant, identified as Md Rafi Ali (48), police seized a 9 mm pistol loaded with two live rounds. He joined the PULF in 2008, police said.
In another unrelated case, government offices in three hill districts of Chandel, Ukhrul and Churachandpur were forced to close down from Thursday by agitating volunteers of the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM).
ATSUM launched the agitation as government failed to translate into work their demands even after the February 1 deadline set by them.
