Khulu visits NABARD funded project

Principal secretary and APC, H.K. Khulu IAS and Dr. U.S Saha, G.M NABARD along with other officials of Financial Institution and agri. and allied visited the “Machilu” (WADI) projects village of Pineapple and Mango at Jalukelo on February 2.
The project is being implemented by PIDS, the development wing of Rongmei Baptist Association Nagaland (RBAN).
Visiting the field in the morning, Khulu urged farmers to cooperate with RBAN for technical assistance.
He also expressed gratitude to RBAN for initiating developmental activities and explained that Tribal Developmental Fund from NABARD was to raise farmers’ standard of livelihood.
Khulu also encouraged the village council of Jalukelo to own the project and villagers to unite and work together even for other schemes like NREGS for community development.
At RBAN office, Jalukie town, Khulu addressed several farmers clubs, SHGs, village leaders, officials and public.
He encouraged people to work hard, love wildlife and to conserve water in order to increase agricultural products in the state.
Emphasizing on unemployment problem, Khulu opined that in Nagaland artificial unemployment existed due to lack of dignity of labour.
Khulu also assured the memorandum submitted through him would be placed to senior officials for endorsement.
In the program Alan Gonmei, chairman, PIDS and director, DUDA chaired the programme, Dr. U. S. Saha G.M, NABARD delivered a short speech.
He appreciated the PIO initiatives and stated the bank was for the people of Nagaland.
The program was attended by dignitaries including Benjamin Newmai, secretary of parliamentary affairs, APC Cell, Khup manager, NABARD and officers from agri and alike.
Other highlights of the program were agricultural products expo and visit to New Jalukie weekly market hut constructed by NABARD.
