ANSTA on free text books
DIMAPUR: ANSTA Peren has expressed disappointment on the delay in issuing free text books for students of government schools. ANSTA Peren president, Kiengau-NDA and general secretary, Tonga Hangsing stated that all government schools under Peren district had re-opened from January 20 as per the order from the department in-charge, and that students were yet to receive their text books.
The unit also lamented they were facing a hard time replying to parents who enquire about the free text books every now and then, adding proper classes could not be taken due to lack of text books. In this regard, ANSTA Peren urged the department in-charge not to delay in issuing free text books to students.

Indian Idols to perform on ‘Valentines Day’
DIMAPUR: Shreeram Chandra Indian Idol 2010, Bhoomi Trivedi finalist of Indian Idol 2010 and anchor of India Radio Mirchi would be performing at a concert on Valentines Day on February 14 at DDSC stadium, Dimaupr. DSSU in a press release informed Suraj Rosario executive chief of Sony entertainment television India Pvt. Ltd for the first time would be present at the mega event. The union further informed that Mayang Chang would not be able to participate in the event owing to unavoidable circumstances.
KVCU Mon appeal for cooperation
Dimapur: Konyak Village Councils’ Union (KVCU) Mon has appealed the villages under Konyak villages under Konyak area in Mon district to cooperate with the respective village councils for another five years tenure of the village council members (VCMS) and village council chairman (VCCS) selection. President of KVCU, P.M Nockpai in a release appealed the public to maintain peaceful atmosphere while nominating and selecting VCMS, VCCs. The union also appealed the public not to select illiterate person, corrupted leader, or someone who has criminal record or is under the influence of alcohol, opium and drugs.
NCP Longleng division dissolved
Dimapur: Following the merger of the two NCP legislators with the NPF party, Longleng division NCP party on January 15 meeting unanimously resolved to dissolve the division in toto and merge with the NPF. According to NCP Longleng division former president Imliakum Phom and former general secretary A. Angai Phom, the objective of the merger with the NPF was to work in unity for the common cause of the NPF party.
Selection of VCC, VCMs under Tuensang
Dimapur: In view of selection, election of recognized village council chairman and members of Tuensang district, additional deputy commissions, SDO (C) and EACS under Tuensang have been informed to monitor the selection, election process of their respective jurisdictions.
DC Tuensang Y.L Jami also requested officers-in charge to submit details through administrative officers administrative on or before February 19 for onward submission o the government.
DC Tuensang in a press notification stated villages under Tuensang should select/elect member of the village council within 15 days from the date of the issue of this notification.
