3 hard-core criminals held

Three hard-core criminals accused of multiple kidnappings and robberies have been arrested by Dimapur police.
According to Dimapur police PRO, the three accused were arrested following the recent kidnapping of two businessmen from Hong Kong market here.
“Two businessmen namely Norul Haque and Ajmal, residents of DC court junction Dimapur were abducted from Hong Kong market February 2, 2011 by three persons posing as undergrounds when they were repairing mobile phones,” the police said.
The PRO said the abductors forced the two into an autorickshaw and were taken towards Khermahal where they were assaulted and looted of their cash and mobile phones.
On receiving the report of abduction and assault, the police mobile party, stationed at Khermahal junction chased the abductors and apprehended them from Anwar Hussein Road, near Hill Star cinema hall. Looted cash and mobile phones were recovered from their possession.
The abductors were identified as Raj Khan a.ka. Tiakaba a.k.a Thomas reportedly “RSI” of NSCN (K), hailing from Malwa Silchar Assam and residing at MTS colony, Dimapur; Saneev a.k.a Babu, residing at Naga Cemetery and Syam Thapa, hailing from Charguar, Tezpur Assam, residing near friends cinema hall.
Further interrogation revealed that the trio had abducted and robbed several people during the month of January 2011 within Dimapur town following the same modus operandi, said the PRO. Reportedly, the ring leader - Raj Khan - was earlier arrested in the year 2009 for threatening and intimidating the manager and staff of a hotel. He admitted to extorting Rs.20, 000 from the same hotel in 2009, police said.
