Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio met railway minister Mamata Banerjee at her Kalighat residence February 3.
According to reports, Rio requested Mamata for a railway line connecting Dimapur with Tizit in Mon district. The chief minister said Nagaland has barely 8km of railway track constructed during British Raj.
“There is a proposal to connect Dimapur with Kohima but that will only serve a political purpose. A railway line connecting Dimapur with Tizit will bring about economic boom as it will pass through six districts,” Rio said.
“I have made a special request to Didi,” he added.
