One house gutted
KOHIMA, FEB 5 (NPN): A house was gutted and properties damaged in a fire incident that took place near Bayavü Higher Secondary School here Friday night. According to police, the fire which was reported at around 11.45 pm was brought under control by the fire tenders before it could spread to nearby houses. In the incident, a gas cylinder also reportedly blasted which further compounded the fire. However, there was no report of any casualty or injury. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained but short circuit was suspected to be the main reason. Correspondent
TSU inform teachers
DIMAPUR: Tikhir Students’ Union (TSU) has informed all teachers posted in Tikhir villages/towns to reach respective schools and be on duty from the second week of February. Tikhir Students’ Union further stated that absentees including locals would be dealt seriously .
BHSS observe census week
DIMAPUR: Bethesda Higher Secondary School (BHSS) Walford Dimapur observed census week from February1-5 by conducting series of activities to create awareness on census operations, and the ‘what, why and how’ of the census 2011. Discussions of census relevant topics, reading of census messages were carried out during morning assembly of the school and competition on quiz cards provided by department were the main highlights of the week. The five-day long programme concluded with a quiz contest where three teams of students from classes 6-8 took part. Participating students were given certificates each.

PEW: Pangti Ekhung Wokha (PEW) has congratulated DPO Land Resource Wokha, Vanchamo Ngullie for receiving Governor’s medal on January 26.
New team of office bearers
ZVC: Zhadima Village Council (ZVC) elected a new team for the tenure 2011-2016 with K. T. Vilie Theiinuo-chairman, Peter Kuotsu- VDB secretary, Vibeizolie Sogotsu- general secretary, Khrielelie Loucii-judicial secretary, Kuolivi Khro, Zasalie Soliezuo and Ravolelhou Theiinuo – audit committee members. The new team was elected during a general meeting held on Saturday attended by around 700 people. This was informed in a release issued by Neiyalie Pfiisenuo, Sessional chairman and Roko Angami, Sessional secretary.
NASU: Niuland Area Students’ Union (NASU) has elected new office bearers for the tenure 2011-12. The team would be led by Vikheto Jakha as president, Aloto Zhimo as vice president and Hemato Awomi as general secretary along with twenty six executive members.
Condolence messages
MYO: Midland Youth Organization (MYO) expressed shocked and grief on the sudden demise of MYO President Vimhal Kohli, who passed away on January 26. In a condolence message MYO said late Vimhal was a sincere and dedicated leader. The MYO conveyed condolence to the bereaved family.
SCCSU: Sao Chang (Govt) College Students’ Union (SCCSU) has expressed shock on the demise of Chilila of Class XII, who passed away on January. The union further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family.
