Thousands of students from various village units under Southern Angami region attended the inaugural function of Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU) 61st biennial general conference on Saturday at Pfüchama village.
Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire, MLA & chairman of NKVIB was the chief guest.
Dr. Nicky Kire appreciated the SASU and programme committee for selecting an appropriate theme “Be the difference that makes a difference” which was relevant to the present society.
He said in doing small things, people could change and make the world a better place to live in. While citing some examples, Dr. Kire reminded the gathering on certain etiquettes i.e. to respect traffic rules, be patient and not overtake other vehicles, not to use mobile phone while driving, parking vehicle properly, not to litter rubbish from vehicle, etc.
“These are small things we across everyday life but makes a difference in our society,” he added.
Dr. Kire while lamenting that some educated persons call themselves educated said the term “educated unemployed” was a disgrace as there are ample scopes in which a person can stand for himself/herself.
Further he said government service was now reaching to a saturated point, and also reminded the government was not under obligation to provide jobs to anybody after graduation or post graduation.
While reminding the students to learn to obey first if they wished to command, he also urged the students to respect and obey their parents and elders.
Earlier, he unveiled the inaugural plaque of the conference.
