Meanwhile, Kiphire village council (KVC) has clarified the press statement published in a local daily on January 21 under the caption ‘Dimapur crime report, eight arrested’ wherein it was reported that Atoshe Awomi of Kiphire village was arrested on January 11 from Rangapahar for possession of automatic rifle.
Refuting that no such name as ‘Atoshe Awomi’ existed in the history of Kiphire village citizenship, KVC said the “self-style” statement given to the police by Atoshe Awomi was “baseless” and has hurt the sentiments of whole Kiphire village citizens. In this connection, KVC in a press release issued by its chairman Tsipithong and secretary Setongba sought clarification of the identity of Atoshe Awomi identity (village, father’s name) from the law enforcing agency and to give the real statement through media at the earliest.
Stating the statement had defamed the whole citizens of Kiphire village, KVC urged the authority in-charge to investigate the matter and book the culprit as per the law.
