Elect honest leaders for devp: Azheto

MLA and advisor sericulture and co-operation, Azheto Zhimomi Tuesday urged people to elect sincere and honest leaders if they wanted all round development in their villages or areas.
Inaugurating the Purana Bazar Village Council Hall Dimapur, Azheto said people should elect leaders who would be willing to sincerely work for the society in all times good and bad. However, he said development was in the hands of the people and citizens as funds were directly given to the grassroots level where various committees were set up for the welfare of the villages.
He said elected leaders only frame policies, go from table to table to get the funds approved and then release it to the grassroots level committees.
Azheto urged people to extend their support and cooperation as without it, the leaders’ hard work would bear no fruit. He congratulated the Purana Bazar Village Council and members of the village for successful completion of the building. He added it was due to the honest and sincere efforts of the village leaders that such developments were being realized.
DPO Taliyanger in his short speech said Purana Bazar village has set a benchmark for all other villages to follow by constructing the council hall which stood tall exhibiting the sincerity of the VDB towards development in the village.
He also urged the people not to deviate from the guidelines framed by the government in implementing various schemes and to judiciously utilize the funds for development.
Nagaland VDB president Tali also delivered a short speech.
Purana Bazar VDB secretary Tohoshe delivered the welcome address and gave a brief report of the construction of the council hall. Purana Bazar Village Council chairman L. Vikuto Wotsa chaired the programme attended by DRDA officials, invitees from different colonies and villages.
