The Meghalaya unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stage a sit in demonstration here on Friday against the ruling Congress-led UPA government’s failure to check the price of essential commodities.
“We condemn the UPA’s efforts to burden the ‘aam admi’ with yet another round of petrol and diesel price hike,” Meghalaya unit of BJP spokesman, Dipayan Chakraborty said today.
He said the food inflation is hovering in country and people are feeling the real pinch of overall price rise, as a responsible citizen, “we need to voice out the issue.”
The BJP also condemned the Congress-led Meghalaya United Alliance government’s failure to stream line the Public Distribution System (PDS).
“The PDS is in a mess in Meghalaya and the BPL citizens are facing problems to meet their two square meals in a day,” Chakraborty said.
