Department of health & family welfare under universal immunization programme (UIP) launched ‘Measles Catch up Campaign’ for children between 9 months to 10 years in Phek district on February 7. Department joint director & state immunization officer Dr. M. Kire stated that the campaign which would end on February 26, was expected to cover a population of 31,031 children in the district.
The first week of the campaign would be school based and over 7000 children were vaccinated in the first two days. Following two weeks would be health facility based and village based, Dr. Kire informed. Dr. Arindam Ray, monitoring & evaluation focal person WHO, would be monitoring the activities in the district while four state level monitors from the department were also deputed to oversee the campaign in all four blocks of the district.
