VHC communitization conference in Tsg

Communitization conference of chairmen and secretaries of health centre management committee (HCMC), sub-centre village health committee (VHC), VHC of village health and sanitation committee (VHSC) under Tuensang district was held on February 9 at the conference hall of the Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) office, Tuensang.
NSG deputy director Maryangla and deputy director Shillongmongla also attended the programme.
Chairing the meet, deputy CMO Tuensang, Dr. Thanghoi Lam emphasized on strengthening the main aims of reducing Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Total Fertility Rate (TFR).
While thanking the VHCs for their work at village level, Maryangla expressed hope that the committees would utilize funds in a beneficial manner so that health would not remain a stumbling block in the process of development. Several resolutions were also adopted in the meeting which included maintaining a table for Janani Suraksha Yojna (JSY) at all health centers, to contribute funds and build nurses quarter where lacking, to maintain kitchen garden at the sub-centers, to hold village health and nutrition day diligently and to organize social work in villages at least twice a year.
Meanwhile, speaking to the nurses present in the meeting, Shillongmongla while stressing that nurses played one of the most important roles in the health sector, urged upon them to work conscientiously and to dedicate themselves in serving the people.
In a brief meeting with medical officers (MOs), the deputy directors and deputy CMO appealed for proper supervision of health centers and patients in rural areas. They also advised on building sub-centers at ideal places for accessibility to patients, improve and monitor immunization, give prime importance to leprosy patients, register cases of deaf and visit schools for proper health check-ups. Awards were also given to nurses of Thronger and Chokla for best performances and Longkhim MO for best performance among health centers.
