Trg for ASHAs conducted at Mon

A week-long training programme for ASHAs was conducted on February 12 at council hall, Mon, with Dinesh Kumar, deputy commissioner, Mon as the chief guest.
The chief guest called upon ASHA workers to be sincere in their duties and impart medical education to the rural populaces.
Deputy CMO, Dr. Joy Rongmei in his keynote address, spoke on the roles and responsibility of ASHA and reminded them that they were the link workers.
He also informed that Mon district needed at least 245 ASHAs as per the population of district.
At present, Mon has 210 ASHAs who have been trained up to 5th module and provided with drug kit.
He further urged members of ASHA to be responsible and active in their duties.
Manpong, DPM, Mon also informed about the training schedule programme block wise and stressed on importance given by government towards ASHA since they were voluntary community workers representing the community.
Emphasizing on 6th module, unlike previous training, the 6th module would include practical training, where ASHA would get a labour room in the district hospital and receive practical lessons on neo-natal and maternity care.
Besides the training programme, ASHA received identity card, ASHA kit, thermometer and baby weighting machine.
The resource persons of the training were Anyei GMN, Throlem GMN, H Mary ASHA coordinator, Tongo coordinator, Monga coordinator, Dr. Vijay MO, Dr. S N Singh MO and Dr. Yingnei MO.
