Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) Diphu district committee has started a crackdown on selling of harmful items like foreign liquor, gutkha, tez, shikhar, dendrite etc. at Manja market of Karbi Anglong district.
The students’ body submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner of the district, urging his intervention in the matter. They called for putting an instant ban on selling of all injurious eatables.
Airing apprehension that in a small town like Manja, intoxicating substances can damage the moral of the younger generation to a large extent, the KSA leaders have requested the deputy commissioner to initiate appropriate measures to ensure complete ban on the sell of the items.
