The 34 ACCC Aghunato while lauding the responsible department on the inauguration of higher secondary school (HSS) at Aghunato on February 3 last, expressed dismay over shifting of DIET centre from Aghunato in lieu of the new HSS.
A statement issued by 34 ACCC Aghunato president K. Ghokheto asserted that the people of Aghunato constituency as bona fide citizens, had “every right” to both DIET centre and higher secondary school. Pointing that more than `90 lakhs had been invested in construction of the DIET centre, the ACCC leader stated that the shifting of centre from Aghunato not only hurt the sentiments of landowners but also created precedence. In this regard, he said the upgradation of HSS was a ”mournful” occasion in the development and political history of the constituency.
Meanwhile, refuting certain contents of a news item that appeared in a local daily on February 8 under the caption “Education crisis in Aghunato” wherein it was mentioned “pathetic condition of roads” connected to Aghunato, 34 ACCC president stated that roads under the constituency were neither pathetic nor deplorable. He clarified that all the villages under the constituency were well connected by village approach roads, village link roads and PWD roads. Ghokheto also pointed out that the roads connectivity were taken up during the time of Tokheho Yepthomi, incumbent CLP leader Nagaland, and went on to add that Aghunato has better road connectivity than other constituencies under Zunheboto district.
