Amidst heightened security alert in Imphal for President Prathiba Patil’s visit KCP (Military Council) militants set-off a powerful bomb one kilometer away, east of Imphal Raj Bhavan where Pratibha Patil was staying.
The blast was triggered at a place on the roadside near Ananda Singh Higher Secondary, Chekon.
However, no casualty was reported but minor damages were caused to the wall and roof of the school building by the impact. KCP (MC) claimed that the blast was triggered as part of boycott call of the visit of President Patil.
The group has earlier announced support to the boycott called by the MPLF.
Meanwhile, the 40-hour general strike imposed by the MPLF as part of the boycott passed off peacefully with no untoward incidents.
