Farmers awarded for quality products

Altogether 17 farmers received ATMA Kohima farmers’ award on Friday in recognition of their quality products in various fields. The award ceremony was held at Hotel Japfü organized by ATMA Kohima.
Farmers awarded in agriculture sector were Kevingulie Thami from Kezo Basa for best rice producer farmer; Zanuo Krotho Teichüma village for highest producer of QPM Maize; Tsüpuo Krotho, Chiechama for highest producer of jobstear/millet; Chasalhou, Kijümetouma for highest producer of pulses; Zavikhoto Kigwema for best potato farmer; Pfhengulie, Mima for highest producer of oilseeds.
In veterinary and animal husbandry, Kevidil Naleo, Khuzama was awarded highest milk producer; Aphino Mor, Khonoma for best piggery. In fishery, Neitsolie, Tsiemekhuma Bawe for best paddy cum fish culture and Methahetuo Chase, Khonoma for best managed fishery pond. In horticulture sector, Diezehiü Meyase, Khonoma for highest vegetable producer (garlic) and Dziesengulie, Tuophema and Hyunilo Rengma, Sedenyu Tseminyu for best maintained orchard. In land resources, Khrietho Self Help Group, Meriema for best functional SHG.
In sericulture, Amenuo, Tsiesema for highest cocoon producer, Kechangulie Medom, Chedema and Lily Tep, Tseminyu for best maintained sericulture garden. In soil and water conservation, Zukiya Wock, Chunlikha for best soil conservation measure adopted farmer and Sohie Keditsu, for best water harvesting pond.
The award ceremony was also marked by launching of ATMA Kohima website by director SAMETI ATMA T.V. Holo, and release of news bulletin by Dr. Deepak Chetri, joint director, agriculture.
T.V. Holo, while speaking to the gathering, encouraged the awardees to be motivated with the award and perform better for the benefit of themselves and the society as well. With their achievements and profile being put up on the website, he said their works would be viewed worldwide and asked them to do better. The programme was chaired by G. Ikuto Zhimomi, district agriculture officer and PD, ATMA Kohima.
