‘International Women’s Day’ at Longleng

Joining the rest of the world, Phom Students’ Conference (PSU) on March 8 commemorated 100 years celebration of International Women’s Day at Lempong Convention Hall, Longleng.
The programme was held with Nyathei Pangnyu, wife of Pangnyu Phom, parliamentary secretary, RD & REPA as chief guest and Sonia Singh IPS, SP Longleng as guest of honour in the first session, while Er. Akheto Sema, executive engineer PWD (R & B) Longleng was the chief guest and Shamthai, president, Phomla Hoichem was the guest of honour in the second session. The speaker of the occasion, Kuplong, women pastor, Dimapur Phom Baptist Church said women were special beings endowed with great potential and responsibility, but added that women often suppress herself with inferior feelings, and traditional influence.
Meanwhile, PSU and Phomla Hoichem solemnly re-affirmed that women’s active participation in VDB should be strictly implemented in all the villages under Phom area to bridge the gap of gender equally in decision making for all round development.
