The Relics of St John Bosco currently on a five continent pilgrimage would arrive on May 1 in Dimapur province northeast India, the province of the rising sun!
The bones of the right hand of Don Bosco contained in a casket will travel 11 Salesian provinces spread out in the Indian sub-continent and Sri Lanka till November 30.
The Relics Pilgrimage which started from Valdocco, Turin (Mother House of the Salesians of Don Bosco on April 25, 2009, marked not only 150th year of the founding of the Salesian Congregation, but also in preparation for bi-centenary of Don Bosco`s birth in 2015, August 16. The relics which traveled first to the Americas arrived in Asia, November 1 last year and is currently in Australia.
DB Relics Pilgrimage India
The casket containing Don Bosco Relics would reach Kolkata by flight and will be transferred immediately to a connecting flight to Imphal (Manipur) for the grand reception and India pilgrimage launch scheduled for May 1, said DB Relics Pilgrimage (DBRP) India coordinator Fr. Joseph Manianchira of Kolkata.
The DBRP Dimapur coordinator Fr. Jose Palely meanwhile awaits a miracle. He said “we hope that they will bring Don Bosco Relics to Imphal from Kolkata by a special flight on Friday 29 April 2011, so that we can have more of Don Bosco for the Imphal celebrations and also take him to remote Tamenglong mission.”
The vice-provincial of Dimapur province Fr. Nestor Guria coordinator of the spiritual preparations for DBRP adds, “Pope Benedict XVI has granted a plenary indulgence to those who make a pilgrimage to see and pray before the relic of St. John Bosco, in accordance with the usual conditions of partaking in Confession, the Eucharist and prayers for the Holy Father’s intentions.”

The DBRP India schedule is as follows: Dimapur May 1 to 24, Guwahati May 25 to June 28, Kolkata June 29 to July 19, New Delhi July 20 to August 3, Mumbai August 4 to 16, Panjim August 17 to 26, Karnataka (INK) August 27 to September 6, Hyderabad September 7 to 22, Kerala (INK) September 23 to October 13, Trichy October 14 to 26, and Chennai October 27 to November 18.
From India the relic is scheduled to go to Sri Lanka from November 18 to 30 and then on to Africa-Madagascar region. Detailed information on DBRT is available on the exclusive website www.urn.donboscoindia.com
The pilgrimage covering some 130 countries is expected to end in Turin by August 2014. The bicentennial of St. John Bosco`s birth at Becchi in Castelnuovo D`Asti, near Turin, will be celebrated with major events in 2015.
