All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Digvijay Singh on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of having links with the banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA).
Asked to comment on the alleged Congress-ULFA link, Singh claimed it was the BJP which has links with the banned outfit.
On the recent peace initiative with the United Liberation Front of Asom, Digvijay Singh, who is in charge of the party in Assam, expressed hoped that the organisation’s elusive commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah, known for his anti-talk stand, will come out of hiding for negotiations.
BJP national spokesman Prakash Javadekar denied Singh’s charge by alleging that the Congress was trying to win the ensuing assembly election through the support of the United Liberation Front of Asom.
On the dissidence among the party’s seat seekers, the All India Congress Committee general secretary said there was bound to be some anger among the hopefuls.
“All are our political workers and we will talk to them and convince them. More than 1200 candidates had applied for tickets and it is not possible to accommodate all of them,” Digvijay Singh said.
