World Consumer Rights Day’

Phek: Commemorating the ‘World Consumer Rights Day’ in Phek, department of legal metrology and consumer protection (LMCP) and Phek district voluntary consumer organization (PDVCO) organised a workshop on consumer rights at Phek town council office.
The main speaker chief advisor PTC, Shevotso Rhakho emphasized that right of the consumer was the most important aspect in the daily life as all of the activities are targeted to earning which is mainly spent for buying other goods, commodities or services.
“This selfness should be minimized so that both the seller/traders and the buyers can complement each other’s need”, he said. He also stressed that problems could be discussed and solved in this kind of gatherings and advised the gathering to utilize the service of the department or authorities to redress the grievances of the consumers.
Others speakers included Vekhoneyi president PDVCO, Vekuta, advisor PTC, head GB and chairman of different colonies.
All the speakers stressed on the need of consumer awareness among the people so that consumers get their due share and they are not denied of their rights.
The programme ended with vote of thanks delivered by Khruzo Venyo, general secretary, PDVCO, after which the department of LMCP along with the PTCSU and PDVCO visited various commercials establishment in the town.
Inspector LMCP, Shekhozo chaired the workshop and associate pastor PTBC, Thupuchyi invoked God’s blessing to begin the day’s proceeding.
MON: World consumer Rights Day was observed at daily market at Mon town on March 15 on the theme ‘Consumer discharge our responsibilities and assert it’. The programme was organised by legal and metrology and consumer protection department. The topic was highlighted by Chinemchiba ADC judicial and president district consumer disputes redressal forum. He urged the consumers to be vigilant and to file complaint if goods were found to be substandard or in case consumers are taken advantage of. Assistant controller Mon, Y. Rilise Sangtam chaired the function and displayed the functioning of weighing and measuring
KOHIMA: ‘World Consumer Rights Day’ was observed at PR Hill junction, Kohima organized by department of legal metrology and consumer protection on the theme ‘Consumer! Discharge your responsibilities, asserts your rights’. The programme was attended by members of district consumer’s forum, NGOs and public.
The workshop led by Chullen Chang, Inspector and team carried raids, seizure and prosecution to popular motor parts shops, bakeries, general stores and prosecuted the guilty for violation of LMCP Acts and Rules.
