Japan quake: Rio conveys condolences

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, on behalf of the government of Nagaland, has conveyed heartfelt condolences to the victims of massive earthquake and tsunami, which struck and devastated large areas of Japan March 11, 2011. In a letter to Japan’s ambassador to India Akitaka Saiki, Rio said. Nagaland was deeply concerned with the damages caused by earthquake to Japan’s nuclear facility, and the threat it was posing, not only to people of Japan, but to the people all over the world. Maintaining that Japan would be able to overcome this terrible moment, the chief minister said: “we would like to let you know that we stand united with your people in this time of tragedy and sorrow, Japan and Nagaland have a very special connection, and in this hour grief, our prayers go out for the people of Japan, and we commensurate with their sufferings.”
