KMC to launch city bus service: Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) would be introducing city bus services under JNNURM programme in the state capital for the convenience of public from March 21. In phase one, two routes have been identified i.e. from District Jail Kohima to Science College, Jotsoma and from High School Junction to Thizama (4th NAP Battalion) via New Secretariat Complex. The rates from District Jail Kohima to Science College, Jotsoma, High School Junction to New Secretariat Complex and New Secretariat Complex to Thizama would be `5 each. The second phase would be introduced shortly on different routes/colonies after observing necessary arrangements. KMC administrator, Alun Hangsing has therefore requested the public to utilize the facility for safe and convenient transportation and also to insist on tickets from the concerned collector while boarding the bus.
NCRC P.R. Hill Kohima prayer meet: NCRC P.R. Hill Kohima prayer center for Nagaland would be organizing monthly prayer meeting from March 25 to 27 with CYE Advisor Adi Sothu and visiting pastor Hovikrol Neikha as chairman. Atou Thapo and Pastor Ketounyü Peseyie Jotsoma Prayer Centre would be the speakers. The morning service would start at 10am and evening service at 4pm in Nagamese and Tenyidie. Healing service would be held on Sunday evening service at 4pm.
CTC bans butcher’s union: In view of the rapidly increasing unions within Chumukedima town and to prevent unwanted taxations/collection within its jurisdiction, the Chumukedima Town Council has banned butchers union of Chumukedima town. Chief advisor CTC, Thepfulhoutuo Shuya in a press handout warned that any other unions outside CTC would not be allowed to collect taxes or membership fees from the butchers within Chumukedima town. Any forceful collections would be penalized as per the decision of CTC, the order stated.
AGMC prayer fellowship: Assembly of God Mungya Church (AGMC) would be organizing a prayer fellowship on March 20, 2pm at LTC Hall Wokha Town. All Mungya villagers residing in Wokha town have been requested to attend the fellowship irrespective of denominations.
EBCAA acknowledges Eastern Bible College: Eastern Bible College Alumni Association (EBCAA) has acknowledged Rev. Dr. T.N Lotha, the founder/ principal of Eastern Bible College, faculty, staff and students on the celebration of the 37th mission foundation day on March 17. EBCAA prayed that the Lord would continue to use EBC as a instrument for the harvest field.
Service Forum Chozuba division new team: The Service Forum Chozuba division in its 6th general meeting elected new team of office bearers for the tenure 2011-2013. The new team would be headed by Pora Keyho as president, Veshosa Keyho as general secretary and Jopolhu Nienu as assistant general secretary. Meanwhile, the Forum in its handing and taking over ceremony held on March 16 at Chozuba decided to deduct `100 as annual membership fee for 2011 through their respective DDOs, head of office, institute from March pay.
VKAYOD general meet: V.K Area Youth Organisation, Dimapur (VKAYOD) has convened a general meeting on March 19, 2pm at the residence of its banker, Chekiye village. All executives, advisors and youth have been requested to attend the meeting.
Medical health checkup at Phaipijang: Power-Grid Corporation of India Ltd. Dimapur organized free medical health checkup on March 18 at Phaipijang village under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Scheme. More than 300 patients availed treatment. Meanwhile, the village council has expressed gratitude to Power-Grid Corporation of India Ltd. Dimapur for organizing the camp.

Tech biotechnology research training: Department of biotechnology, SETAM, Nagaland University has announced that 13 final semester students of the department have been selected for undertaking research project for three months starting from March 15. Students have been placed in reputed institutes like NEIST, Jorhat, Institute of Advance study in Science and Technology, Guwahati, Bose Institute, Kolkata and Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Chennai. Head of department, Imlitoshi Jamir in a press handout expressed gratitude to Dr. P Nongdam, in-charge training and placement cell of the department for his tireless effort in securing the placement for the students.

Mass vaccination camp: Deputy director, D.I unit veterinary and A.H, Dimapur has informed that a mass vaccination camp would be held on March 22 at Niuland town, Kuhoxu, Ghotovi, Hovishe, Hizulho, Hovukhu, Viyito, Zuheshe, Hezheto, Henito, Hozukhe, Hevikhe, Hakhezhe, Yevito, Hetoi, Kiyezu ‘A’ and Kiyezu ‘B’.
WSSU jubilee meeting: Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) has convened its jubilee meeting on March 19, 10:30am at the residence of Shikaho Jimo, Thahekhu. All conveners, ex-presidents, elders and unit presidents have been requested to attend the meeting.
Death anniversary of late Kekuojalie Sachii and Vikhozo Yhoshii: Angami Students’ Union (ASU) would be observing the 25th death anniversary of late Kekuojalie Sachii and late Vikhozo Yhoshii on March 20, 11am at Kohima local ground under the aegis of the Naga Students’ Federation. The union also appealed to all the educational institutions and citizens of Kohima town to attend the programme as a mark of tribute and honour to its martyrs.
NMHYO reaffirms its stand on banning alcohol: The New Ministers’ Hills Youth Organisation (NMHYO) reaffirmed to stand by its resolution to restrict using alcohol and intoxicating substances at viewpoint near Cathedral. Stating it will take its own course of action against defaulters, the union appealed to all general public to kindly extend their cooperation.
KSU on power supply: Kangching Students’ Union (KSU) has brought to the notice of the authority that Kangching villagers under Longleng district have been reeling without electricity for the past four months. The union in this regard appealed to executive engineer (Power) of Changtongya division to look into the matter at the earliest.
Sheet medal training for unemployed youth: General manager I/C, District Industries Centre (DIC) has informed all educated unemployed local youths that interview for sheet metal training for 2011-12 for a period of nine months would be held on April 7, 10am at office chamber of general manager, DIC, Dimapur. Training would commence from April 18. All interested local youth who have passed class-VIII and above may submit the application along with copies of educational certificate and mark-sheet, birth certificate, 2copies of recent passport to the office of general manager, DIC Dimapur before April 6. Further, applicants have been requested to bring original certificates and other documents during the time of interview.
PHSNS 6th general session held: Phir-Ahi Holongba Sangsomong New Sangsomong (PHSNS) range students union held its 6th general session on March 12 at Sangsomong village. The session was attended by members of union. The union expressed gratitude to all the organizations, USBLA Yangli, Kikatemsu Sangtam, BDO Longkhim, 21 AR (C) Coy Longkhim and speakers of the session for their support and contribution towards the union. A new team of office bearers was also elected to be led by T Thelongba as president, Lemtsase as vice president, Thsadila as general secretary and Tsikingmong as assistant general secretary for the tenure 2011-2013.
Saakshar Bharat Mission seminar in Tobu: A seminar on Saakshar Bharat Mission was held at Tobu headquarter on March 16. The programme was chaired by N. Thamchai, supervisor, welcome address by T. Pur Jamir, DIS Tobu, DEO Mon delivered the keynote address. Director SRC Tripura Prantosh Datta highlighted the aims and objectives of the mission. Short speeches were delivered by programme associate, Shillong Manbi, assistant headmaster Maopong Konyak attached to directorate of school education Nagaland and president ANSTA, Tobu Unit C.P. Thuba. The seminar was attended by village council chairman and village education chairman under Tobu block.
