All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA), Kohima in its general meeting on March 10 deliberated on registration given to Dimapur Taxi Driver’s Union (DTDU) by labour department, Nagaland. The house resolved not to support formation of organization, union without ANTA approval and that no association, unions should operate without ANTA’s approval. The house decided to make a representation to joint labour commission (HoD) cum-registrar of trade union, directorate of labour for cancellation of DTDU.
The meeting decided to uphold ANTA constitution and not to allow private vehicles to run as taxis. In this matter, the association decided to make a representation to district administration to check movement of private vehicles within one week, adding it would protest and demonstrate in front of regional transport authority office, Kohima if the authority failed to meet their demand. The meeting further made a representation to Kohima Municipal Council not to impose parking tax on taxis and also decided to bring the meeting minutes to the notice of deputy commissioner, superintendent of police and regional transport officer.
