Thanksgiving dinner for 2nd NE Agri Expo: 2nd NE Agri Expo organizing committee chairman APC H.K. Khulu and member officers of various departments organized a thanksgiving dinner for the successful conduct of the expo cum farewell for additional director Z. Kikon who retired from government service. Minister for agriculture, Dr. Chumben Murry graced the occasion and lauded departments and officials for their concerted efforts during the expo. He also conveyed appreciation to state chief minister, Neiphiu Rio who was also chairman of the steering committee of the event. Meanwhile, lauding the managerial skills of Z. Kikon, Dr. Murry described him as “a wizard of information technology” and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Aghunato GHS upgraded to GHSS: Additional director and HoD, directorate of school education, Kevito Sema inaugurated the newly up-graded Government higher secondary Aghunato on March 3. A press release issued by Aghunato area GBs union extended gratitude to chief minister Neiphiu Rio, minister for higher education and urban development Shurhozelie and education minister Nyeiwang Konyak for upgrading the school through the initiative of ex-MLA Pukhayi Sumi. The union also urged the government to expedite the process of deploying the teachers and other staff for smooth functioning of the school.
Community hall inaugurated at Chui village: Community Hall constructed by 6 Assam Rifles, as part of Assam Rifles (AR) military civic action project under the aegis of Headquarter 7 Sector AR at Chui village, Mon was inaugurated on March 8. The inauguration ceremony was attended by officials of both military and civil administration including village chief/secretary of the village. Speaking on the occasion, Col Rajesh Gajraj Comdt, 6 AR reiterated the commitment of Assam Rifles towards the progress of the local tribal population both in infrastructural and social fronts, stated a defence release. The project was conceptualized by AR with an aim of providing better infrastructural facilities to the villagers in remote area of Mon district. The project can facilitate in carrying out any village functions/festivals like meetings, camp or any get together.
Community centre at Yoting village, Mon: A Community Centre at Yoting village, Mon was inaugurated on March 7 by 6 Assam Rifles, constructed as part of Army Military Civic Action Project (OP Samaritan) under the aegis of Headquarter 7 Sector Assam Rifles. The inauguration ceremony was attended by officials of both military and civil administration including village chief, secretary of the village. Speaking on the occasion, Colonel Rajesh Gajraj Comdt, 6 AR reiterated the commitment of Assam Rifles towards the progress of the local tribal population both in infrastructural and social fronts. The project was conceptualized by Assam Rifles with an aim to provide better infrastructural facilities to the villagers in the remote area of Mon district near the border, stated a defence release.
HIV and AIDS programme in Tuensang: A sensitization programme on HIV and AIDS for community leaders was held at town hall, Tuensang on March 17. The resource persons during the programme were DTO, Dr. Moa; MO District Hospital Tuensang, Dr. Toshi; ICTC Councilor District Hospital Tuensang, Ason and President TDNP, Mongtsoa. Dr. Moa spoke on the topic ‘Basics of HIV and AIDS, Dr. Toshi spoke on ‘Voluntary Blood Donation and Blood safety’, Ason spoke on ‘Importance of Testing’ and positive speaker, Mongtsoa spoke on ‘Stigma and Discrimination, Care and Support for PLHIV’.
SFCD new team: Service Forum Chozuba Division (SCD) during its sixth general meeting held on February 8 elected a new team of office bearers for 2011-13 tenure. The new team would be headed by its president Pora Keyho, general secretary Veshosa Keyho, assistant general secretary Jopolhu Nienu, treasurer Kevizo Shijo, publicity secretaries Vethio Sapu, Zevengoyi Nienu and Vekhole Rhakho. According to the new general secretary, the Forum also elected a three-member co-ordination committee namely, Dr. Veswulhu Keyho, Bihunyi Nyekha and Dahu Chuzho. The audit committees are Vethio Phesao, Kuduvotso Vero and Sevohu. Further, the Forum in a joint meeting of old and new office bearers cum handing and taking over on March 16 at Chozuba decided to realize Rs 100 as annual membership fee for 2011 from March through their respective DDOs, head of office/institute.
