Sensing the advantage of backyard piggery keeping in every Naga houses and viewing that many Naga families are economically dependent on pig rearing, ATMA Mangkolemba Block conducted training on piggery production and management for piggery farmers at Japu village on March 11 and at Longphayimsen village on March 12.
Dr. Longeronen VAS Dept. of veterinary and A.H and Dr. Rongsentemjen, deputy director veterinary and A.H Mangkolemba were the main resource persons of the training. Topics of farmer’s interest viz scientific feeding and management of pigs, economic of piggery farming and different diseases of pigs and its control and prevention with special reference to swine fever were taught.
During the discussion hour, problems of practical importance pertaining to rearing of pigs were raised by the farmers.
The resource persons deliberated on the questions raised which was an important part of the training.
After the training, free medicines were distributed to all piggery farmers.
