The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Mon, Tobu block, inaugurated the farmer’s school at Mopong EAC Headquarter on March 15 with N. Elha, Village Council Chairman of Yakshu village as the chief guest.
The chief guest in his speech called upon farmers to extend cooperation and support to the extension workers so as to improve farming system thereby increasing the production and productivity of the rural areas.
He also called upon the farmers to do away with the old method of farming and adhere to the latest method of cultivation to boost rural economy.
The inauguration was marked by ignition of lamp by the village functionaries of the area who attended the function. The main purpose of establishing the farmer’s school at the block level was to enable the transfer of latest technology and methods either by the extension workers or the progressive farmers to the other farmers in the grass root level.
Earlier, the programme started with an invocation by pastor, Mopong Town Baptist Church followed by welcome address by N. Yangang Konyak, progressive farmer.
Dr. M.S. Sachan, SMS (Plant breeding), Block Technology Team (BTT) convener of Tobu Block chaired the programme.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by secretary Ukha Self Help Group (SHG) Langmai followed by mass benediction.
Farmers and village functionaries from Tobu sub-division attended the inaugural programme.
