No land compensation for Railway line: Rio

State chief minister Neiphiu Rio has affirmed that no land compensation would be granted for opening rail road in the state.
Rio said this March 19 at a public meeting at Molungyimsen village, a DIPR bulletin reported.
Rio made it very clear that vehicular roads and rail roads were being constructed by the government as it was for the welfare of the people.
Lamenting on the demand for land compensation for opening rail road, the chief minister said the amount for meeting the land compensation exceed the cost of the construction of rail road.
He, however, said the damage caused to properties, plantations would be compensated by the government.
The chief minister’s announcement came close on the heels of union railway minister, Mamata Banerjee’s announcement in her Railway budget speech 2011-12 that all state capitals in the North east would be connected by rail in the next seven years and proposal for opening rail road on the foot hills of Nagaland from Dimapur to Tezit via Tuli.
